My MFP 2604sdw Laserjet Tank printer has always been a little squirrelly. It constantly went offline regardless of whether it was connected wirelessly or via network cable. Consequently, I've probably printed less than 500 pages in the entire time I've had it due to the aggravation factor. HP's instructions to correct the problem were to download and update the firmware, which I did. It does power up and the printer is recognized by the software when I plug it in directly to a usb port on my laptop, but it constantly displays "E80", and the Wi-Fi and the attention light lights blink. Printing/scanning etc do not work and none of the ideas posted online work. Naturally, HP customer service has given me no useful assistance.
I followed HP's instructions to correct the problem with the firmware update provided by HP and now I just have an expensive brick. Can this somehow be reversed? A sometimes-working printer is better than a never-working printer. Can anybody help?

I did get some followup information from this forum, but nothing has worked. I have numerous HP products in my house, but I'll assure you that as they are replaced, they will be from a different manufacturer. Too bad.

After a lot of aggravation, I did manage to return the printer to its original state. So I'm back to where I was when I applied the first "fix": error 79 appears after printing every document. It's better than having to discard it, but it's still aggravating.
