I have a problem that the scanner element of my MFP 28W appears twice in "Device Manager" and "Printers and Scanners" and in "Print & Scan Doctor".

When printer is Off:

HP Laserjet MFP 28W(5B0016) is displayed in Device Manager. (NPI5B0016 (HP Laserjet MFP 28W) is hidden)

In "Printers and Scanners" selecting:-. HP Laserjet MFP 28W(5B0016) the options for "Open Scanner", "Scanner Properties" and "Hardware Properties" are available. Selecting NPI5B0016 (HP Laserjet MFP 28W) only "Hardware Properties" is available.

Scan Doctor shows only one instance of NPI5B0016 (HP Laserjet MFP 28W and no further action is possible.

When printer is On:-

HP Laserjet MFP 28W(5B0016) & NPI5B0016 (HP Laserjet MFP 28W) are displayed in Device Manager.

In "Printers and Scanners" selecting:-. HP Laserjet MFP 28W(5B0016) &NPI5B0016 (HP Laserjet MFP 28W) the options for "Open Scanner", "Scanner Properties" and "Hardware Properties" are available.

 

Running "Print & Scan Doctor" selecting one NPI5B0016 (HP Laserjet MFP 28W) displays "the full software solution your product is not installed for this computer". This in turn gives "Device Manager Error" then "HP Scan Error" (Device Status & WIA  are OK)- Installing the software has no effect.

Selecting the other NPI5B0016 (HP Laserjet MFP 28W) no error message is displayed regarding software, but the WIA and HP Scan errors are displayed.

This software installation (this time) was performed using HP Smart
