Hi @gman26,

Good Day.  A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the post regarding issues the printer screen displaying an error message. I will be delighted to assist you here.

Superb description, brilliant troubleshooting and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

  • Did this happen after a printer firmware update?
  • Did you bypass power strips and perform a hard reset on the printer?
  • Is the printer the same model or is it a different model?
  • Please share the complete model# of the printer to assist you better.

For a start, please perform these steps.

  • Please perform a hard reset on the printer.
  • Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
  • Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • NOTE:
  • HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  • Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  • The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
  • Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
  • Then check if the issue gets resolved. If not I will be sending you steps to perform a super NVRAM reset on the printer as a private message.
  • Please keep checking your private messages.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. If it still does not resolve the issue, the printer may have a hardware issue and should be replaced by contacting Hp phone support.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care now and have a superb week ahead. 🙂

I have the same problem with my printer. It has worked great up until today. If there is a fix, I would love to hear it. Otherwise I will be shopping for another brand printer. It would be nice if the fix were posted instead of just being sent privately - is there really a fix short of a new board?
