Trying to setup a new M426fnd-
Set IP to static 10.1.1.20/24
Ensured comptuer is on same network (10.1.1.x)
Can browse to the printer's IP address and get printer config GUI.
Installer can't find printer via auto-detect, manually entering the IP or Host Name so won't install drivers.
Hmmmm

I have exactly the same problem with the same model. Installer can't find printer when I gave it IP address, host name or MAC address.
Tried to use newest installer/drivers ver 17345 - no change.
Tried to update firmware to ver 20180201 - no change.
I have 4 others HP426 printers in my network and installer see them. But not this one.
I can add driver via Windows 7 installator, but I can't use scan with that method.

If you are on a network, do not waste time with the installer, setup a tcpip port and install the printer manually using the UPD driver.

Thanks for the advice. Thats actually what I have done in the interim. The reason why I would like the installer to work is the scanning features. I do have the device setup as a scanner however it only scans as image files and not PDF. Can you suggest a workaround to that so that it can scan as a PDF?

Make sure you are installing the right driver - I had the same problem, installer couldn't find printer. The problem was that I was installing driver for M426, but I should be installing for M426f. Even though the printers look the same, they seem to bo different printers, at least for the installer.
