I have had to uninstall all HP drivers and my printer due to the above message and I now have problems adding certain attachments to Mail, as well as having an unusable printer.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06960563

Yes, the printer is 10 years old, but it's a really good machine and I object strongly to being faced with getting rid of it.

I've attempted to use Smart Print, but the printer is not found on the network.  It is sited in a different building to my wifi router and there are many reasons not to want to change this.

Netgear Powerline extenders don't work, as the mains systems are not linked.

An ethernet cable is not practical due to the same reasons.

But why am I even having to consider all of these work-arounds, when yesterday I had a perfectly good working system?

I see from other questions that there must be an enormous number of people affected by this issue, simply because HP have not updated these drivers in line with Mac OS developments - and there's a new one about to come out!

If this was a ploy to get people to buy new HP printers, it's failed on me - I'm getting by with an equally aged Canon Pixma (drivers loaded just like that),   If I do need to buy a new multi-function machine because this can't be rectified, it won't be HP.

Hi,

What is your exact operating system version? is it Catalina or Big Sur? this is crucial for better understanding of any possible step to try, but not quite clear from your description.

I'm currently on Catalina 10.15.7 but there is a Big Sur update waiting to install.

To my mind any update to the drivers should suit both, to allow for all users in this situation.
