My Mac as usual updated automatically to the next software Sequoia 15.3. This update has been released about four weeks ago. But still the HP drivers for my printer have not been updated by HP!
I've been in contact with the Apple support in order to downgrade my Mac again, as I really need to print and scan for my work. The only way to do so is to do a fully reset to my Mac and get my data again from my last backup. I do not feel comfortable to do so, as I only would be forced to do that because HP missed out to update their drivers!
When will the updates be out?!

@LxA7, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It sounds frustrating that the HP drivers for your printer haven’t been updated yet, especially when you're relying on your printer for work. While I can’t provide an exact date for when HP will release the drivers for macOS 15.3 (Sequoia), I can give you some troubleshooting steps that may help you get your printer working in the meantime or at least find a workaround.
Troubleshooting Steps for Printer Driver Issues:
Check for HP Software Updates:
- Open the HP Smart app (if installed) or the HP Easy Start tool.
- Check if there’s any software update available directly through these apps. Sometimes, HP pushes updates through them instead of waiting for the macOS update cycle.
Install a Generic Printer Driver:
- Sometimes, macOS can use a built-in generic driver to print and scan, even if the specific HP driver isn't available.
- Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and choose the Generic PostScript Printer option or another available generic driver from the Use dropdown menu.
- This won’t offer all the features, but it should allow basic printing.
Use AirPrint:
- If your printer supports AirPrint, you can print wirelessly without the need for any specific drivers.
- Ensure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac and select the printer in the print dialog box.

Reinstall the HP Printer Drivers:
- If you have an older version of HP printer drivers saved on your Mac, try reinstalling them.
- You can download older versions of the drivers directly from HP’s website, or you can try a third-party website that offers legacy drivers.
- Go to the HP Support Page for your printer, search for your model, and check if older drivers are available.
Try Using a Virtual Machine (As a Last Resort):
- If none of the above steps work and you need to print urgently, consider setting up a virtual machine on your Mac.
- This is a more complex solution and may require some time to set up, but it can be a workaround while waiting for HP’s drivers.
What to Do if You Really Need to Downgrade:
If none of these options work and you really need to downgrade, you’ll need to back up your data (either via Time Machine 🕒 or another backup solution 💾) before performing a reset. A downgrade is typically a more drastic measure ⚠️ and may not always be necessary, especially when trying workarounds like generic drivers or AirPrint .
You may also check the Official HP Website for driver updates.
I hope these steps help resolve the issue
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
