I'm using a beta version of macOS 11.0.1.  I was getting error messages when trying to print, so I uninstalled the HP driver, then downloaded HPPrinterDrivers5.1.dmg and tried to run it.  But the installer immediately shows an error message saying "This volume does not meet the requirements for this update.", and the only button is Close.  What does that mean?

The installer log says:

Package Authoring Error: <background_scaling> has an unsupported MIME type: X-NSObject/NSNumber
Package Authoring Error: <background_alignment> has an unsupported MIME type: X-NSObject/NSNumber
Package Authoring Error: <layout-direction> has an unsupported MIME type: X-NSObject/NSNumber
Failed to load specified background image
Could not load resource readme: (null)
Installation checks failed.
nstallation check failure. . This volume does not meet the requirements for this update..

That installer will not work in the Big Sur beta.  When Big Sur releases you will be able to use HP Easy Start to install those particular drivers.

While I may work for HP Inc, the views and opinions expressed here are my own.

@IronBadger, where could I find the link for HP Easy Start for Mac?

 

If I go to https://support.hp.com/lv-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-easy-start/7376041/model/7376046, it reads "We were unable to find drivers for your product".

I found the HP Easy Start installer at this link: Download

 

However, after it detects my HP LaserJet 1012, and I click Continue, it says: "We were not able to automatically locate any software options for this product."

 

How could I install the drivers for a Laserjet 1012 printer on Big Sur?

 

The current HP printer drivers I have on my Mac cannot be used because HP unintentionally revoked the certificates for older printer drivers so macOS won't execute them.
