Hello @GenDel, and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your printer shows as "Ready" but still refuses to print. Let's walk through a few steps to get your HP Officejet 2620 working again with your MacBook Pro.

Remove and Re-add the Printer

Sometimes the printer queue gets stuck. Let's reset it:

  1. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Select your HP Officejet 2620, then click Remove Printer (-).
  3. Click the Add Printer (+) button.
  4. Wait for your printer to appear. Select it and make sure "Use: HP Officejet 2620" is selected (not AirPrint).
  5. Click Add.

Reset the Printing System (Optional but Effective)

If the issue persists, try resetting the entire printing system:

  1. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and choose "Reset printing system...".
  3. Re-add your printer as described above.

Install the Correct HP Drivers

Make sure to install the HP software, then re-add the printer using the HP driver.

Check for Print Jobs Stuck in Queue

  1. Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Select your printer and click Open Print Queue.
  3. Cancel any stuck jobs and try printing again.

Try Printing from Another App

Sometimes the issue is app-specific. Try printing a simple document from TextEdit or Preview to test.

Update macOS and HP Software

Make sure your Mac is up to date:

  • Go to System Settings > General > Software Update.
  • Also check for updates in the HP Smart app (if installed).

Additional Tip

If you’ve used Terminal commands before, it’s possible some printer settings were altered. Resetting the printing system (Step 2) should undo any changes.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
