Ink Tank Wireless 419
macOS 10.15 Catalina

I am using HP Ink Tank Wireless 419 printer with macOS 10.15.6 Catalina and suddenly the option for two sided printing has been disabled by the software update provided by the company. The printer does not carry the automatic duplex option but is it extremely pathetic that they have disabled the manual option for duplex printing. The option to print while flipping the long edge has been disabled by the company whereas it was working fine previously. If anybody has a solution to this, I would be grateful. Moreover, when I tried reaching out there customer care, they shamelessly asked for payment to help as the product is out of warranty which is unacceptable as the software falls short of what it was delivering earlier. Hi,

The Two-Sided option is only available for products supporting automatic duplex printing, it is expected to be grayed out when auto-duplexing is not supported by a printer.

For manual two-sided printing from a Mac, use the Pages to print option as described below, also be sure to set the Page Order as Automatic for your printer:

Shlomi, I am wary about your understanding of the issue that I am referring to. I have explicitly mentioned that ink tank 419 is not a duplex printer but has been offering manual duplex printing all along my 2years of use (by choosing to flip either on the long edge or short  one) but suddenly the new upgrades to the drivers have throttled the existing options available. You may wish to gain more clarity by referring to the article containing specifications of the said printer which clearly outlines that the printer has duplex printing option which is primarily manual and subject to drivers. If the company plays with driver updates and then gives such lame options to try out, it shows their incompetence towards addressing the concerns of the consumer. Attaching the link of the article for you to peruse and gain clarity: http://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/getpdf.aspx/4AA7-1240EEP.pdf

The link that you have shared is futile as it causes much mental agony to take print of odd pages and then even numbered ones. That’s unfeasible and obnoxious as one cannot always keep a check whether the document has even or odd number of pages and then make adjustments. There was no need for the company to grey out the option for manual duplex printers. In nutshell, the company has withdrawn the option which it was offering ever since and it is better to accept rather than suggesting workarounds which are such a pain. This withdrawl of options certainly goes to show how much the company is concerned about eco-printing. Highly ill-informed people have come to support this specific case which ofcourse saddens me. Thank you so much for taking out time to reply to this thread but unfortunately it isn’t workable.
