Officejet Pro 8600 Plus
macOS 10.15 Catalina

My Officejet Pro 8600 Plus is booting up and displaying 'Memory Card Error' - Please remove memory card however there is no card inserted into any slot. I am able to configure the printer to work off wifi from my Mac and it responds to print requests. I have tried two resets semi reset which didn't get rid of the issue and a full reset which threw a fault code but disappeared with flashing lights before I could get chance to write it down; it then did a semi reset and is back to square 1. Anybody know something about these models with this issue?

Also I have tried starting the printer with a USB stick in and an SD card. It boots up with the USB stick but won't let me 'backup' and says memory card has been removed then goes back to the original error. With SD card it throws a blue screen with error code C819020A

Hi @MrHealy

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "Memory Card" error.

Please try these steps -

1) Take out the cartridges.

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Wait for 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks for your reply however I have found a work around. I have disabled the ‘mass storage’ function via the settings application. I believe it’s possibly a USB port malfunction. I have no need to worry about printing from usb as I use WiFi.
