HP Access Control

Good morning everyone,
We want to migrate our server from Windows Server 2019 to Windows Server 2022, however, after the migration, all printers are unavailable. Can you help me with this issue?

Hi @PDombele,

When migrating from Windows Server 2019 to Windows Server 2022 and encountering issues with printers being unavailable, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

  1. Printer Drivers: Ensure that the drivers installed on the server are compatible with Windows Server 2022. You might need to download and install the latest drivers from the HP website for your specific printer models.

  2. Reinstall Printers: After ensuring driver compatibility, try removing the printers and then reinstalling them on the server. Verify that the correct driver versions are being used during installation.

  3. Network Configuration: Check the network settings for the printers to ensure that they are correctly configured and that the server can communicate with them over the network.

  4. Printer Services: Verify that all necessary Windows services related to printing are running on the new server. This includes the Print Spooler service.

  5. Printer Ports: Verify that the printer ports are correctly assigned and configured. You may need to recreate or reassign the ports for each printer.

  6. Firewall Settings: Ensure that your firewall settings on the Windows Server 2022 are not blocking print-related traffic. Allow exceptions for sharing and accessing network printers.

  7. Sharing and Permissions: Recheck the sharing settings and permissions for the printers to ensure that they are set up to be shared with the appropriate users or network segments.

  8. Event Viewer Logs: Check the Event Viewer logs for any related error messages or warnings that could provide more insight into the issue.

  9. New Features or Changes: Review any new features or changes in Windows Server 2022 that might affect printing services or compatibility with older driver versions.
