I recently purchased a new HP printer. I have set it up but can't figure out how to get the Printer Icon on my desktop. Can anyone help

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

 

Did you install the full feature drivers of the Printer? If you did, the Printer's icon will automatically be installed on the desktop.
