I am running windows 8.1. I now use windows to print and scan, which takes a bit longer, but actually works rather than through HP, which still does not work. It is now several months since I tried to resovle this issue all of which failed. I simple wanted to completeley uninstall the printer and then reinstall it with new software. If you can suggest a simple straight foward way of doing it then I am interested. All previous advice was complicated, and as someone used to a computer, but not an expert, not easy to follow.

I would like to assist you with hopefully getting your old Photosmart 3210 uninstalled. So that I can provide you with specific troubleshooting steps, could you please provide me with the current version of Windows that you are running. If you need assistance in finding the version, I have included the document 'Which Windows operating system am I running?'.
Looking forward to working with you! 🙂
Thank you so much, Lisa. i'm running Windows 7. For some reason, the pop-ups have stopped. When I check Devices and Printers, I show an all-in-one printer that is not named. I'm not sure if it's still the 3210 or the new OfficeJet Pro 8600 I'm trying to install. The 8600 says on its screen that it is connected to our network, but the computer shows it needs a driver to connect to the printer. I try downloading a driver from HP, and get an error message. So confusing!

Hi Pickwoad,
To resolve the error, the steps that we do need to go through are a little more difficult. The steps that I have included do look very daunting to take on. One option for this is to contact technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/hpsupport/index.pl As they may have the option to remote access into your computer, and do the troubleshooting for you.
Another option would be to do a level 3 uninstall of the F2480 printer software from your computer. I have included the steps below for you to try.
1. Download the full feature software and drivers
2. Once the download is finished double click on the file to extract the software.
3. When the installation window opens press the cancel button to stop the installation
4. Type %temp% in the run field
5. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
6. Right click on the folder, and select Copy
7. Close that window, and all your open windows, and then in the middle of the desktop right click your mouse, and select Paste. This will move the 7z folder to your desktop.
8. Open the 7z folder you just copied to your desktop
9. Open folder Util
10. Open folder CCC
11. Run the L3uninstall.exe
12. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
Hopefully either of these options do work for you! 🙂
Hey neciebez,
For the error message that you are getting when trying to uninstall your old printer, and install your new printer, it usually just means that software is stuck somewhere, and did not fully uninstall with the other printer software. To start the troubleshooting off I would suggest following the steps below.
Please let me know the outcome of the troubleshooting steps.
Good Luck! 🙂
