I've just re-installed Windows 10, and want to add the driver for my hp deskjet 930c printer. After having run the update function during printer installation, I could not see the 930c printer. It only shows deskjet 920 followed by deskjet 940.
Note: in former installations of Windows 10, the deskjet 930c was found in the updated list!!
The support page of HP also stated that you should use the standard Win 10 printer installation to add the deskjet 930c printer. So this hint isn't actually correct.
My questions:
Why does deskjet 930c no longer appear in the updated list of HP printers?
and
can I use another driver instead to make the deskjet 930c printer available on Win 10?
Thank you

The Add-a-Printer list might need to be "updated" before the 93xC printer group shows up in the list.

As there was no new anwswer, I'll assume that there is no obvious reason why I cannot see deskjet 930c .
So my next questions are then:
Is there another way to get the driver for HP deskjet 930c ?
or
can I use another driver instead of the deskjet 930c , e.g. the driver for deskjet 950 ?
Thank you.

I do not know why the appropriate driver selection does not show up on your Windows driver list. Assuming you had used the little Windows Update in the procedure, the list should be complete.
The reason might be due to your region (location on the planet), your particular Windows version, USB already connected. ??
The testing and examples are from Windows 10 Pro, latest edition (at writing V1803), full Administrative rights, UAC ticked second from the bottom.
If this printer is to be connected via USB, make sure you have disconnected the USB cable between the printer and the computer before starting the Add-a-Printer procedure.
If you had not done so, click the little "Windows Update" box to refresh the list.
It can take several minutes for the list to update / refresh, after which whatever Windows Update drivers are found will be present in the list.
If the USB port does not show up on the list of port selections, use the LPT port.

Hi,
I've made some more tries but still cannot make the entry for deskjet 930c visible.
I use the same Windows as you, Windows 10 Pro, Vers. 1803 , and the system has been set up in July 2018, so it is very new.
As I can see all the others drivers for deskjet printers like 920c, 940c, 948c, etc. I don't know what can be wrong
on my system to get the correct updated list of printers. See snippet.
Do you know about any filters or restrictions when Windows runs the update to get all drivers?
Anyway, actually, I cannot install the driver for deskjet 930c using this method, so would like to ask if
there are any other options like
- beside the general method used by Windows 10, ist there another possibility for downloading the driver?
- if nothing will work, is it possible to use another driver, e.g. the driver for deskjet 950c ??
Please help
Regards

The driver you seek is available from the Microsoft Update Catalog - search for hp 930c
If using USB, disconnect the cable between the printer and the computer before installing the driver.
Connect cable only if / when instructed OR at the end ("Finish").
Example for another / different printer
"How to use" - Extrapolate information for use with your file:
Solution Contributed by Paul_Tikkanen – Thread: Discontinued Printer
Excerpted
See if this works...
Download and save, but do not run the 2nd driver on the list at the link below (that is the 64 bit file).
https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=%20DeskJet%20842C
Download and install this free file utility. The 2nd link at the top of the page is for 64 bit.
After you install 7-Zip right click on the printer driver file you downloaded and saved.
Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the file to its long folder name.
Once that is done, go through the normal steps to manually add a printer in W10.
This link may be of help if you are unfamiliar with the process.
Read the info for adding a local printer, steps 1-5.
http://www.laptopmag.com/articles/add-printer-windows-10
When you get to the part where you are asked to install the driver, click on Have Disk and browse to the driver folder 7-Zip created>prnhp001, and select the HP DeskJet 840C/841C/842C/843C printer from the list, and the driver should install.
NOTE: Replace Deskjet 840c xx with your printer driver information.
If I have anything else to add, I will post back.
