First I did not see any blue in my colour prints.

Tried changing cartridge - now I get "cartridge cannot be used until printer enrolled".

Printer IS enrolled for instant ink

If I restart the printer it wants me to align the printhead - no other options, so I press "continue" and the blue circle endlessly goes around with "printing the alignment page" message, and nothing else happens.

I've reset the printer to factory settings twice, and still get the above.  I now can not do anything with it at all.

Hi @Chives16,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

From your description, it looks like there are two separate issues occurring: the "cartridge cannot be used until printer enrolled" message and the printer becoming stuck while trying to print the alignment page.

Before we proceed, could you please confirm the exact model of your HP OfficeJet printer? You mentioned "HP OfficeJet HP2024", but I wasn't able to locate a printer model with that designation. The model number is usually printed on the front of the printer (for example, OfficeJet Pro 8025e, OfficeJet 9015e, etc.).

Regarding the Instant Ink message, could you also confirm the following:

  • Is your HP Instant Ink account currently active and showing as enrolled?
  • Was the replacement cartridge supplied through your HP Instant Ink subscription, or is it a standard retail cartridge?

If your Instant Ink account is active, I'd recommend trying the following:

  1. Turn off Web Services on the printer (if you can access the printer settings).
  2. Restart the printer and check whether the cartridge error clears.
  3. Once the printer is working normally again, you can turn Web Services back on and allow the printer to reconnect to your Instant Ink account.

Please also let me know:

  • Does the printer remain stuck indefinitely on "Printing the alignment page", or does it eventually display another message?
  • Are there any blinking lights or additional error codes on the printer?

Once you share the exact printer model and confirm the Instant Ink account status, I'll be happy to guide you with the next appropriate steps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
