Hi @MarkG76,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M182-M185 is not connecting to your computer and you're seeing a message about unavailable drivers, here’s a step-by-step guide to help resolve the issue:

1. Verify Printer Connection

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer via USB or network (wired/wireless).
  • For network connections, make sure the printer is connected to the same network as your computer.
  • Restart both the printer and your computer to refresh the connection.

2. Install or Update Printer Drivers

  • Go to the HP Support website and search for your printer model (Color LaserJet Pro MFP M182-M185).
  • Navigate to the Drivers & Downloads section and download the latest driver compatible with your operating system.
  • Run the downloaded driver installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers. Make sure to select the correct connection type (USB or Network).

3. Remove and Reinstall the Printer

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners on Windows or System Preferences > Printers & Scanners on macOS.
  • Select your printer and click Remove or Delete.
  • Click Add a printer (Windows) or + (macOS).
  • Follow the prompts to reinstall the printer. Ensure that the correct driver is selected.

4. Check for Software Updates

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. Sometimes, Windows updates can include driver updates.
  • If you have HP Support Assistant installed, use it to check for and install any available updates for your printer.

5. Check Printer Status and Settings

  • Check the printer’s control panel or web interface (if connected over a network) for any error messages or status updates.
  • For network printers, ensure that the IP address and network settings are correctly configured.

6. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

  1. Download and Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:
    • Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from HP’s website.
    • Run the tool to diagnose and fix common printing and scanning issues.

7. Check Firewall and Security Software

  • Ensure that your firewall or antivirus software is not blocking the printer. Temporarily disable them to check if it resolves the issue.
  • Ensure that your security software is not interfering with the printer’s connection.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
