Hi @MarkG76,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M182-M185 is not connecting to your computer and you're seeing a message about unavailable drivers, here’s a step-by-step guide to help resolve the issue:
1. Verify Printer Connection
- Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer via USB or network (wired/wireless).
- For network connections, make sure the printer is connected to the same network as your computer.
- Restart both the printer and your computer to refresh the connection.
2. Install or Update Printer Drivers
- Go to the HP Support website and search for your printer model (Color LaserJet Pro MFP M182-M185).
- Navigate to the Drivers & Downloads section and download the latest driver compatible with your operating system.
- Run the downloaded driver installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers. Make sure to select the correct connection type (USB or Network).
3. Remove and Reinstall the Printer
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners on Windows or System Preferences > Printers & Scanners on macOS.
- Select your printer and click Remove or Delete.
- Click Add a printer (Windows) or + (macOS).
- Follow the prompts to reinstall the printer. Ensure that the correct driver is selected.
4. Check for Software Updates
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. Sometimes, Windows updates can include driver updates.
- If you have HP Support Assistant installed, use it to check for and install any available updates for your printer.
5. Check Printer Status and Settings
- Check the printer’s control panel or web interface (if connected over a network) for any error messages or status updates.
- For network printers, ensure that the IP address and network settings are correctly configured.
6. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from HP’s website.
- Run the tool to diagnose and fix common printing and scanning issues.
7. Check Firewall and Security Software
- Ensure that your firewall or antivirus software is not blocking the printer. Temporarily disable them to check if it resolves the issue.
- Ensure that your security software is not interfering with the printer’s connection.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
