@Anniroc89 I had the same issue after updating to Big Sur and was able to get my HP Laserjet 1018 working by following this article about setting up a HP LasterJet 1018 on a mac with Big Sur :

  1. Open Apple menu > System Preferences > Printers & Scanners and reset the print system by right clicking anywhere in the printer list and selecting “Reset printing system…” which will delete all your printers. Caution: this will remove all printers/scanners in the list. I only use the HP LaserJet 1018, so this wasn’t a concern but if you have multiple printers you may want to try just deleting the HP LaserJet 1018 to start and follow the rest of these instructions.

  2. In finder, go to the hard drive and move the “hp” folder to the trash and empty the trash.

  3. Download and run the HP Uninstaller to remove all HP drivers:
    https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/HP_Uninstaller...
    Instructions can be found here.

  4. Install “Pacifist“. This will allow you to install the HPPrinterDrivers5.1.dmg in the next step since trying to open the file directly will result in the error “This volume does not meet the requirements for this update.”

  5. Download the HPPrinterDrivers5.1.dmg from HP here:
    https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/ASU/HPPrinterDrivers5.1.dm...

  6. Double click the HPPrinterDrivers5.1.dmg then open the HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers.pkg using “Pacifist”. Select the “Contents of HewlettPackadPrinterDrivers.pkg” and click the “Install” icon. If a message appears asking about files, select “Replace”.

  7. Restart the computer.

  8.  Connect the HP LasterJet 1018 to the USB port and open Apple menu> System Preferences > Printers & Scanner, then add the printer using the “+” icon and for the “Use:” click “Select Software…” and type HP 1022 into the search box and select “HP LaserJet 1022, 1.6.1”, then click “OK”

  9. The printer should now be added and able to print. Double click the printer to open the print queue and try printing a test page.

I have the same problem.
On November 13, I updated the system, the printer stopped working.
Apple said to wait for HP to release new drivers.
No replies from HP yet. It remains to wait

This is the best solution.
My 1018 printer is working on Ishp Yrk.
Thank you!
I installed everything step by step!
Pacifist helps to install the driver.

Thank you for your help. But I have a problem. Pacisift asks for registration code? When I double-click the hpdriver that you suggest in the steps to follow. Can u helpmeet pls?

Did pacifist ask for a code or not? How could you manage it? I can't so I still have the problem.

Link for 5.1 version drivers  from Apple site works on Big Sur without Pacifist, but I don't check 1022 HP LaserJet drivers existing.
