My HP 4100 Printer is offline and won't "talk" to my computer

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP DeskJet 4155e All-in-One Printer is showing as offline and not communicating with your PC Sorry to hear about the trouble. Let’s try a few steps to bring it back online:

1. Restart Devices

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power.
  • Restart your computer and Wi-Fi router.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.


2. Check Network Connection

  • Make sure both your printer and PC are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • On the printer, the Wireless light should be solid blue. If it’s blinking or off, reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi.


3. Use HP Smart’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

  • Download or open the HP printer setup (HP app) | HP® Support.
  • Click the wrench icon (bottom left) and select Diagnose & Fix.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the issue automatically.


4. Check Windows Printer Settings

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Click your printer, then click Open queue.
  • Make sure “Use Printer Offline” is not checked under the Printer menu.
