I just purchased a HP 8015e printer. I t came up as a 8010 when I installed it. now, I cannot scan and get an error message. How do I resolve this?

8To resolve the issue with your HP 8015e printer being recognized as an HP 8010 and the subsequent scanning errors, follow these steps:

 

Step 1: Uninstall Existing Printer Drivers and Software

Open Control Panel:

  • Press Windows + R, type control, and press Enter.

Uninstall a Program:

  • Go to Programs > Programs and Features.

Remove HP Software:

  • Find all HP printer software related to the HP 8010/8015e and uninstall them.

Remove Printer from Devices and Printers:

  • Go to Devices and Printers in Control Panel.
  • Right-click on the HP 8010/8015e printer and select Remove device.

Step 2: Reboot Your Computer

  • Restart your computer to ensure all previous drivers and software are completely removed.

Step 3: Download and Install the Correct Drivers

Visit HP Support:

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.

Find Your Printer:

  • Enter "HP OfficeJet Pro 8015e" in the search bar and select your printer model.

Download Drivers:

  • Download the full feature driver and software package for your HP 8015e.

Install the Drivers:

  • Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the correct drivers and software for your printer.

Step 4: Connect and Set Up the Printer

Connect the Printer:

  • During the installation process, follow the prompts to connect your printer via USB or Wi-Fi as preferred.

Set Up Scanning:

  • Open the HP Smart app (download from the Microsoft Store if not already installed).
  • Add your HP 8015e printer to the HP Smart app.
  • Use the HP Smart app to set up and test scanning.

Step 5: Test Scanning Functionality

Open HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer.

Select Scan:

  • Select the Scan option and attempt to scan a document to ensure the issue is resolved.

Step 6: Update Printer Firmware (if necessary)

Open HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer.

Update Firmware:

  • Go to Printer Settings or Advanced Settings.
  • Check for any available firmware updates and install them if available.

Step 7: Troubleshoot Using HP Print and Scan Doctor

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool.

Run the Tool:

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix any remaining issues with scanning.

Following these steps should resolve the issue with your HP 8015e printer being misidentified and the scanning errors. If the problem persists, contact HP phone Support for further assistance.
