Hi @coco1050,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw is having trouble printing Word booklets correctly while your LaserJet 1536 prints them fine, the issue could be related to printer settings, driver issues, or document settings. Here’s a comprehensive guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check Printer Settings

  • On your computer, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Select your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw and click Manage > Printer properties.Go to the Preferences tab.
  • Verify that the paper size and type match the settings you used when creating the booklet in Word.
  • Ensure that Booklet Printing or similar options are enabled if available.

2. Update Printer Drivers

  • Visit the HP Support website.
  • Search for your printer model (HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw) and download the latest drivers and software.
  • Run the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the latest drivers.
  • After installing, restart your computer to ensure the new drivers are fully integrated.

3. Check Word Document Settings

  • Open your Word document and go to File > Print.
  • Ensure that Print on both sides is selected if you’re printing a booklet. Also, verify that Booklet is selected under Page Layout or similar settings.
  • Go to Layout > Page Setup > Booklet.
  • Ensure the settings are correct, such as Book fold, Margins, and Paper size.

4. Test Different Settings

  • Try printing a simple test document as a booklet to check if the issue is specific to your original Word document or a more general problem.:
  • If you haven’t already, download and use the HP Smart app to print your booklet. This app might handle document formatting differently and could resolve the issue.

5. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Go to the HP Support website and search for firmware updates for your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw.
  • Follow the instructions on the HP website to update the printer’s firmware.

6. Check Paper Handling and Tray Settings

  • Ensure the paper size and type loaded in the printer match the settings in your Word document.
  • Confirm that the correct paper tray is selected in the printer settings and that it’s properly configured.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Rachel's reply helped me a lot. On solution 1, when I checked the solution I saw the Finishing tab and selected that. On the Finishing tab there is an option to "Flip Pages Up".  That option sounded to me like it might be helpful because the problem was that some of the booklet pages were printing upside down. When "Flip Pages Up' was turned on, the Booklet printed correctly!! So, thanks very much!!!
