Hello,

 

The HP ENVY 4500 series software installed with the printer, which I use to scan documents, no longer launches under Windows 11. I double-click the desktop icon, and nothing happens. No error messages, no windows open.

It was still working fine two months ago.

 

I uninstalled the printer software and reinstalled everything, but I still have the same problem.

Has anyone else had the same problem?

That’s frustrating, especially since it was working fine before! Here are some steps to troubleshoot:

 

1. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download HP Print and Scan Doctor from HP’s support page.
  • Open the tool and let it diagnose any issues with the printer software.

 

2. Check for Windows Updates

  • Open Settings > Windows Update and install any pending updates.
  • Sometimes, Windows updates can fix compatibility issues.

 

3. Reset the HP Software

  • Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
  • Find HP ENVY 4500 series software, click Advanced options, then select Reset.

 

4. Run the Program in Compatibility Mode

  • Right-click the HP ENVY 4500 software icon on your desktop.
  • Select Properties > Compatibility.
  • Check Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 10.
  • Click Apply, then OK.

I follow step by step but nothing works

 

I installed HP Smart from Windows Store and I can use my printer with it.

I will uninstall the HP4500 Software.

It sounds like switching to HP Smart has resolved your printing needs, which is great! If you still want to troubleshoot the HP ENVY 4500 series software, you could try resetting it before uninstalling:

  1. Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
  2. Find HP ENVY 4500 series software.
  3. Click Advanced options, then select Reset.

If you prefer to stick with HP Smart, uninstalling the older software is a good move to avoid conflicts.
