I have my printer (HP Envy 5540) connected to my router / network. My computer is connected to the same router by an ethernet cable. It was working perfectly, but it quit working and I uninstalled everything and then have tried reinstalling the drivers but the printer and computer will not communicate. This appears to have started after the recent Windows update.
Here are some of the things i have tried:
* Reset the Router
*Reset the Printer Wireless Connection
*Restart and Shut Down the Computer
*Assigned the Printer a manual IP Address, Subnet, etc.
*Ran the Print / Scan Doctor
*Attempted to install the Basic Driver Download instead of the Full Version
*Deleted everything to do with the Printer or HP by using c:/programdata and printui.exe /s
*Ran the DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth application
Weirdly enough, the printer has now accepted the drivers and says it is connected and ready. When i attempt to print a picture, with several programs, or try to print a Microsoft Office document the printer dialogue box goes through the motion of saying it is printing, and then nothing in the queee and yet the darn printer sits and stares at me, without doing anything, it doesnt even light up.
If i try to print from my phone, laptop, or tablet it prints perfectly. It is just the computer connected by ethernet. This machine does not have a wireless connection in it.
I have spent a couple days on this and would appreciate any help you may have to offer.
Thanks in advance,
Ken

@kvs1963, Welcome to HP Support Community!
I see that you have issues with printing from the computer to the printer wireless, let us try to isolate and resolve the issue.
-
In the Wireless menu on the printer or on the Wireless Test Report, find the printer IP Address.
-
Open any browser on the computer
-
Type the IP address in the search bar, and then tap enter to open the EWS.
If you are able to access the printer's EWS follow the steps below-
Try adding a TCP/IP port.
- Print a Network Configuration Report from the Printer Settings or Wireless menu.
- Right-click your printer, select Printer Properties, click the Ports tab, and then click Add Port.
- Select Standard TCP/IP Port, and then click New Port.
- Follow the instructions to add a new port using the information listed on the Network Configuration Report.
- Try printing.
Also additionally, go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS folder > security tab > "Everyone" group permission to read & execute, list folder contents, read, and write.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
