Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

product name: HP Laser Jet Professional M1212nf MFP

It worked all with other computers via WAN (even Ipv4 was assigned) before installing the drivers on  windows 10 PC with the drivers utility downloaded from manufacture's site at:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-LaserJet-Pro-M1212nf-Multifunction-Printer-serie...

When done, the printer showed the following message: "Initializing" with the green and yellow lights blinking, so I searched for lights explanations on the user's manual of the given model and I wait as told "The printer is on initializing status. Nothing to do" but nothing changed. I tried the power drain by disconnecting when powered on and pressing the on botton for 30 seconds. Nothing changed. I tried connecting the USB cable , because now the printer is not connected to the network, so I ran the firmware update utility but it did'nt recognize no printer, even when I tried with it's IP address (the one that the printer had before the essue). Thank you very much in advance for any help or any tip.

Bestregards,

Your custemer.

@Massi_b,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that the printer is stuck on initializing.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  2. Remove USB cable, if present.
  3. Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  4. Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  5. Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!

Cheers!

Hello, dear HP support agent.

I’d like to thank you in advance, before everything else, for you’re reply. I did as you suggested but it didn’t solved my problem. It still remains in initializing status. I even found another discussion of the same problem on the community and I already tried a few hard resets but it didn’t work though. In the specific I tried the following combinations:

1. First step: turning off the printer.
Second  step: turning it on while pressing both the cancell (X) and the Rifht arrow bottoms.

Third: after the message “permanent storage init..” on the screen appeared I released the bottoms, waited until printer idle, selected language and region but the printer turned again on initializing  mode (cycling).

2. I did the same with cancel and start copy bottoms but it didn’t do anything neither.

3. I tried something else then:

first: opened the printer door and removed the cartridge.

second: I turned the printer off

third: restarted it by pressing the “permanent storage init..” combination-bottoms and by doing so another message “finally” appeared on screen: “insert ink cartridge”; so  at this point I tried reinstalling firmware anddrivers (by using the utilities downloaded From hp web site, by plugging USB cable to a windows 8 computer; with net option the printer is not recognized) and restoring company settings from settings menu, which is only accessible while “insert ink cartridge” is shown. Unfortunately nothing had worked so far. I want to point out that the printer it’s not recognizable on the local net (WiFi, or LAN connected, even if I tried to ping it from console with the last IP used by the printer). I don’t Know if I’m overthinking here but I didn’t know what else to do. Maybe I’m not able to perform correctly the hard reset (I’m not even sure if it was the right procedure). Anything would be of great help.
I Wish you a great day too. Best regards.

I got the same problem today, connect my old HP m1213nf to my laptop with Windows 10, unfortunately, the Windows doesn't have the driver to make the printer work, so I downloaded the Full Solution, the firmware upgrade happened without my command.

Now, the device has the same issue.

I thought the private message might be useful, unfortunately, that's just hard reset.

Hard reset has been done 1x times, completely useless.

Any additional suggestion? My printer was bricked due to the software provided by HP.

HP Recommended

Let's try to reset the Printer here:

Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

  1. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  2. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  4. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  5. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  6. NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  9. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Also, try connecting the Printer to a different wall outlet directly.

Let me know if this helps.
