Hello,
I just purchased an HP Officejet Pro 9018 and I am attempting to set it up wirelessly. I already have the HP Smart app on my phone. The existing printer comes up. The new printer pops up; however, it’s telling me to restart the router which I did and I have been trying it over and over. I turned the printer off and it goes back to scanning the QR code to complete set up. Please advise as to what else I can do?

Hi @TMorris007,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
Setting up your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 wirelessly can sometimes require a few additional steps if you encounter issues like this. Here are the detailed steps to help you resolve the issue and complete the wireless setup using the HP Smart app:
Step 1: Prepare for Installation
Ensure Printer is On:
- Make sure your printer is powered on.
- The printer should be in a ready state (not in sleep mode).
Check Network Connection:
- Ensure your smartphone or computer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network that you want to connect the printer to.
- Make sure your router is functioning correctly and has an active internet connection.
Step 2: Reset Network Settings on Printer
- Reset Network Settings:
- On the printer’s control panel, go to the Network or Wireless settings.
- Select Restore Network Settings or a similar option to reset the network settings to default.
Step 3: Use the HP Smart App
Open HP Smart App:
- Open the HP Smart app on your smartphone or computer.
Add a New Printer:
- Tap on the + sign or Add Printer.
- The app should search for available printers. If the printer doesn't show up, tap Set up a new printer.
Follow the Setup Instructions:
- Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the new printer.
- When prompted, use the QR code on the printer's screen to complete the setup.
Kindly check the rest of the steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
