My HP Officejet Pro 8610 indicates offline, but connected.  I have software version 032.004.116.94128.  The printer driver version is 13.33.00.2473.

How can I get it back online so I can print again.

Hi @MartyM34-_, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check Printer’s Network Connection

  • Check the physical connection: If you're using a USB connection, ensure the cable is properly connected. For wireless, verify that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
  • Network status:
    • Go to the printer's control panel and navigate to the Network Settings.
    • Print a Network Configuration Report to ensure it has a valid IP address.

Restart Printer and Computer

  • Power cycle both your printer and computer.
  • Turn off your printer and unplug the power cord for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart your computer to refresh any settings and clear temporary issues.

Set Printer to Online

  • On Windows:
    1. Open the Control Panel and go to Devices and Printers.
    2. Right-click on your HP Officejet Pro 8610 printer and select See what's printing.
    3. In the window that appears, click Printer in the top menu, and uncheck Use Printer Offline if it’s selected.
  • On macOS:
    1. Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    2. Select your printer and click Open Print Queue.
    3. Ensure the Printer is not paused and there’s no issue showing in the queue.

Check the Printer Driver

  • Ensure you have the latest drivers installed for your printer.
    • Visit the HP Support website and search for your model (HP Officejet Pro 8610).
    • Download the latest driver and software package for your operating system.
    • Uninstall the current driver and reinstall the new one.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Firmware update can sometimes resolve connectivity issues:
    • Go to the HP website or use the HP Smart app to check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.

Check Printer Queue and Restart Print Spooler

  • Windows:
    1. Type "Services" in the Start menu search bar and open Services.
    2. Scroll down and locate the Print Spooler service.
    3. Right-click it and select Restart. This can help clear any stuck print jobs.
  • macOS:
    1. Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    2. Select your printer, click Open Print Queue, and cancel any stuck print jobs.

Re-add the Printer to Your Computer

  • Windows:
    1. Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
    2. Remove the printer by selecting it and clicking Remove device.
    3. Click Add a printer or scanner and select your HP Officejet Pro 8610.
  • macOS:
    1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    2. Remove the printer and then re-add it by clicking the + symbol.

Check for IP Address Conflicts

  • If your printer has a static IP address, make sure it does not conflict with another device on your network.
  • If using DHCP (dynamic IP), you can reserve an IP address for the printer in your router settings.

Disable SNMP Status Monitoring (Windows)

If you're using a Windows computer, the printer may be set to use SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), which can cause connection issues.

  1. Go to Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click on the printer and select Printer Properties.
  3. Go to the Ports tab and click Configure Port.
  4. Uncheck SNMP Status Enabled and click OK.

Check for Printer Software Conflicts

  • Antivirus/Firewall Settings: Ensure that your antivirus or firewall isn’t blocking the printer's connection. Temporarily disable these security features to see if it resolves the issue.

Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • HP provides a free diagnostic tool called the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
    • Download it from the HP website.
    • Run the tool, and it will automatically detect and troubleshoot connectivity or printing issues.

Try Connecting with a Different Method

If you're connected via wireless and facing persistent issues:

  • Try connecting your printer via USB to your computer to see if the issue persists.
  • Alternatively, try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network to rule out issues with your router.

Reset Network Settings (For Wireless Printers)

  • If your printer is not responding to network-related issues:
    1. On the printer's control panel, go to Network Settings.
    2. Find the option for Restore Network Defaults.
    3. After resetting, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network by following the setup prompts.

You can refer to this guide for troubleshooting issues when your HP printer is offline or unavailable.
