Like the title says, my HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e printer has been validating for 2 days. What do I do about this? Also before it did that it kept saying it wasnt connected to my internet even though I could look at it and see that it showed that is was. What do I do about these problems? Any help will be appreciated. Thank yall.

Hi @jirkal,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It’s understandably frustrating when your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e printer is stuck validating cartridges and intermittently shows as not connected to the internet, even though the network appears active. Let’s address both issues with guidance that’s helped many users.

A. Printer Stuck on “Validating” Cartridges

Users have encountered this specifically with new HP cartridges, and here’s how to resolve it:

  1. Wait a Few Minutes
    • After installing a new cartridge, allow up to 5 minutes; sometimes validation just takes time.
  2. Ensure Proper Cartridge Installation
    • Open the printer cover, remove the cartridge, and reinstall it until it clicks firmly into place.
  3. Use Genuine HP Cartridges Only
    • Confirm that both cartridges are official HP products, with all protective tape removed before installation.
  4. Clean Cartridge Contacts
    • Power off the printer, remove the cartridges, and gently wipe the copper or gold contacts (on both cartridge and carriage) with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water. Let them dry fully before reinstalling.
  5. Run a Hard Reset
    • Unplug power from both the printer and the wall outlet for 60 seconds, then reconnect and power it back on.
  6. Update Printer Firmware
    • Go to Official HP® Support, enter your model, and download the latest printer firmware. Updated firmware often resolves cartridge recognition issues.

B. Printer Showing “Not Connected” Despite Wi‑Fi Signal

This connectivity anomaly often occurs due to ghost network profiles or outdated settings. Here’s how to fix it:

  1. Reset Network Settings on Printer
    • On the printer control panel:
Menu (gear icon)Network SetupRestore Network Defaults.
    • Then run the Wireless Setup Wizard to reconnect to your network.
  2. Confirm Printer’s IP Address Matches Your Network
    • Print a Network Configuration Page (found under Reports or Network Settings) and ensure the IP address aligns with your router’s network (e.g., same subnet).
  3. Restart All Devices
  4. Restart the printer, router, and your computer/mobile, in that order. It helps resolve cached network state issues. Verify Printer Appears Online
    • In HP Smart or your device’s printer settings, make sure the printer is listed as online, not offline or unavailable.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
