Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My MFP M477 printer wount allow auto duplexing after a recent windows update.I tried a previously posted solution,..went to printer properties, selected the device settings tab where it said the duplex unit was not installed. Unfortunately,, I am unable to change the pull down as it is ghosted out, in fact, all of the 4 items listed on the device settings tab were ghosted out. Other computers on the network can auto duplex just not my PC.

Hello, you are correct in going into the printer properties to enable duplex copies, however it sounds like you need to tell your print driver that your printer has a duplex unit. To do this you go back into your printer properties on your drive, and go to the "Device Settings" tab, If you scroll down the menus you will see something that says "Duplex Unit" and you will need to change it from "Not Installed" to "Installed". If these options are greyed out there is a button, located on the "General" tab under printer properties, to the left of the "Preferences" button, that has a blue and yellow shield. that allows you to make changes to the driver settings. May require admin login though.

Hope this helps, thanks.

If the option is greyed out it may be a permissions issue and the user you are logged in as does not have rights to change. This is also the behavior if you are on a computer trying to change settings on a device shared from either a print server or other computer. In that case you need to change the defaults at the source.
