HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer

My Mac desktop (OS Sequoia 15.5) is not connecting to my HP Envy 5660 printer.  Computer keeps trying to connect but printer does not respond.  I had already printed some items but then it got stuck.

Hi @Hrihor,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out. Let's resolve the connection issue between your HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer and your Mac desktop running macOS Sequoia 15.5.

From your description:

  • The printer was working initially, but now it gets stuck and won’t respond.
  • Your Mac keeps trying to connect, but nothing prints.

This sounds like a communication breakdown, often caused by network issues, outdated print queue settings, or macOS print system glitches.

1. Power Cycle the Printer

This helps reset the printer’s network stack:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it from the wall for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Wait until it finishes warming up.

2. Restart Your Mac and Wi-Fi

  • Restart your Mac.
  • Turn Wi-Fi off and back on (this has resolved Sequoia-specific issues for some users

3. Forget and Reconnect the Printer on Mac

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Remove the HP ENVY 5660 if it’s listed.
  • Click Add Printer and wait for your printer to appear.
  • If it doesn’t show up, click IP and enter the printer’s IP address (you can find this on the printer’s display under Wireless Settings > Network Summary).

4. Install HP Easy Start

HP Easy Start can detect and install the correct drivers:

5. Check for macOS Compatibility

Some HP drivers/extensions may not be fully compatible with Sequoia. If HP Easy Start doesn’t work, try using AirPrint:

  • When adding the printer, choose Use: AirPrint instead of HP drivers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
