I have just installed my new HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 Printer to my PC, Windows7 32?, via WiFi. I have an USB cable but it is not being used yet. I set up my printer by way of using the touch pad on the printer. All went well. However, on my PC, it only gives the printer available as Office Jet Pro 6970, not 6978. I have searched all the places I know to update Drivers ect but there is no availability for the 6978. I aged 50 years getting my new printer,(origial did not work, sent back, ect,) so I now need to be able to use it from my PC. Thank you in advance for any viable help provided. Best regards.

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:
Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo
14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
15.) Restart the computer.
Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Dear Betty0610,
I am sorry but your response help post does not contain any information. ?? Something lost in netherworld…
I would appreciate help in resolving this problem as having a new HP printer that I cannot use is not a good thing.
Thanks again for any help.
Ravynq
Note: When I try to print something, it says it has sent it to the printer (6970) but My 6978 Printer does not receive the info.. Surely someone in this tech world can help me get up and running. Thank you in advance for helping.🥺

I cannot thank you enough!! I have no clue what happened, but I decided to give it a try from the very beginning one more time.... and I can PRINT,, it still does not read as a 6978 only as a 6970, but it works so I do not care! Thank you again for your patience and your great help. Warm regards, RavynQ
