Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're encountering an issue where your HP DeskJet 2755e printer is printing black-and-white documents with a blueish tint instead of true black, and the barcodes are not printing correctly (showing hollow or incomplete).
This issue could be due to several factors, such as incorrect printer settings, cartridge issues, or driver settings. Let's go through the troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem.
1. Check Printer Settings in HP Smart or Printer Preferences
Sometimes, incorrect settings in the print software or driver can cause the printer to print in the wrong color mode.
- Open HP Smart (if you're using it on your computer or mobile device).
- Go to Printer Settings.
- Make sure the color settings are set to print in Black & White or Grayscale, not color. Sometimes, the default settings can accidentally be set to color printing, which can cause the printer to use color ink when it shouldn't.
- For Windows:
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your HP DeskJet 2755e and select Printing Preferences.
- In the Color tab, ensure that Black and White or Grayscale is selected, rather than Color.
2. Check Ink Cartridge Levels and Alignment
The issue with printing black text and barcodes in blue could be related to how the black ink cartridge is functioning, especially if the printer is using color cartridges to simulate black.
- Check Ink Levels:
- If the printer is low on black ink, it may be trying to mix the available color inks to approximate black, resulting in unexpected colors like blue.
- You can check the ink levels via the HP Smart app or by printing a printer status report from the printer’s control panel.
- Clean the Printhead:
- If the printhead is clogged, the printer may not be printing with enough black ink, and it could default to a mixture of colors (like blue).
- Go to the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel and navigate to Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead. This can help clear any clogged nozzles and improve print quality.
3. Ensure Correct Black Ink Usage
Sometimes, the printer may be using a combination of the color cartridges (cyan, magenta, yellow) to produce black ink instead of the dedicated black cartridge, especially if the printer detects that the black cartridge is not being used properly.
Replace the Black Ink Cartridge: If the black cartridge is old, damaged, or low, it could affect print quality. Try replacing it with a new, genuine HP black ink cartridge.
Check Ink Cartridge Orientation: Ensure that the black ink cartridge is installed in the correct slot (usually labeled for black ink). If the cartridges are mixed up, the printer may be trying to use the color cartridges to create black, which could cause the blueish tint.
4. Update Printer Drivers
An outdated or corrupted driver can cause printing issues. Ensure that you have the latest drivers installed for your HP DeskJet 2755e.
- Go to the HP Support Website and search for your HP DeskJet 2755e model.
- Download and install the latest driver and software package for your operating system (Windows or macOS).
- After updating, restart your computer and try printing again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
