My hp 2855 won't print a Word doc from my Mac.

Prints everything else, but not from Word.

@Leslie1949, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

1. Check Printer Connection

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your Mac, either via USB or Wi-Fi.
  • Try printing from other apps (e.g., Preview, Safari) to confirm if it's just Word or if it's a printer issue in general.

2. Restart the Printer and Mac

  • Turn off your printer, wait 10-15 seconds, and turn it back on.
  • Restart your Mac to reset any temporary glitches in the system.

3. Check for Updates

  • Printer Drivers: Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your printer. Go to the HP website and download the latest drivers for your HP DeskJet 2855e.
  • Software Update: Ensure your macOS is up to date. Go to System Preferences > Software Update.

4. Reset the Printing System on Mac

Sometimes, resetting the printing system can fix issues with printing:

  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and select Reset printing system.
  • Afterward, you will need to re-add your printer by clicking the "+" button and selecting your HP DeskJet 2855e.

5. Check Word Preferences

  • Open Word and go to Word > Preferences > Print.
  • Ensure the correct printer is selected as the default.
  • If you're using Cloud Print, try switching to direct printing instead.

6. Try Saving and Printing the Document as PDF

  • Save the Word document as a PDF and then try printing the PDF through Preview or another application.
    • To save as PDF: In Word, go to File > Save As, and choose PDF as the format.
    • Open the PDF in Preview and try printing it.

7. Check for Print Queue Issues

  • Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your printer and click Open Print Queue.
  • If there are any stuck print jobs, try canceling them and then attempt to print from Word again.

8. Test in Safe Mode

  • Boot your Mac in Safe Mode (hold down the Shift key while booting). Safe Mode can help isolate any background processes or apps that may be interfering with printing.
  • Once in Safe Mode, try printing a Word document.

9. Reinstall Microsoft Word

  • If nothing works, consider reinstalling Microsoft Word. It might be a corruption issue within the app itself.
    • You can remove Word by dragging it to the Trash and then reinstalling it from the Mac App Store or Office 365.

10. Check for Print Settings in Word

  • Sometimes the print settings within Word may be causing the issue. Open Word and go to File > Print. Check the settings (such as paper size, printer, etc.) to ensure they are correct.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
