I am trying to narrow down the solution to this problem. I have the great idea to try to add an additional monitor that I needed but I used an old monitor ( actually it was an old tv, I did not even know that it was a TV)and I plugged it into the ducking station where I had my new LG monitor originally plugged into, The tv display was so bad and old that I unplugged it and decided to stay without an additional monitor however somehow it disconfigured the resolution of my LG monitor and the resolution needed is of 3440 X 1440 but when I try to selected in Display setting is not listed and then I also tried in advance display settings but I could not update it there either. The last solution given in the internet was to create a custom resolution to be able to enter the information of 3340 X 1440. Now I am just trying to reinstall/update the Intell R Iris R graphics and see if that fixes it. Any suggestions? I have dealt with this all day.

Hi @Zizette,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're facing resolution issues with your LG monitor after disconnecting an old TV from your docking station. Here are some steps and suggestions to help resolve the problem.
Check Docking Station Connections
Ensure that the docking station is connected properly to your HP Notebook 14 and that all cables (especially the cable to your LG monitor) are securely plugged in.
Verify Monitor Settings
Sometimes monitors, especially high-resolution ones like your LG with 3440x1440 resolution, may not show up correctly in Windows display settings if the correct drivers aren't installed or if there's a connection issue.
- Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
- Check if the LG monitor is detected. If it is, ensure it's set to the recommended resolution (3440x1440).
- If the resolution is not listed, try clicking on Advanced display settings and then Display adapter properties for Display 1 (assuming your LG monitor is Display 1).
- In the Adapter tab, ensure that the correct monitor is listed and the driver is up to date.
Update Intel Graphics Driver
Since you mentioned reinstalling or updating the Intel Iris graphics driver, this is a good step to take:
- Go to the Intel Download Center (Intel Driver & Support Assistant) and let it scan your system for the latest drivers. Download and install any updates it suggests for your Intel Iris graphics.
Check for Windows Updates
- Ensure your Windows operating system is up to date. Sometimes, Windows updates include fixes for display issues.
Reset Custom Resolution
If you previously tried creating a custom resolution and it didn't work out, you might want to reset your display settings to default:
- Go to Display settings > Advanced display settings.
- Click on Display adapter properties for Display 1.
- In the Adapter tab, click List All Modes, select the correct resolution (3440x1440), and click OK.
- Apply the settings and restart your computer.
Check Docking Station Compatibility
Ensure that your docking station supports the maximum resolution of 3440x1440. Some older docking stations might have limitations that prevent higher resolutions.
If these steps don't resolve the issue, there could be a deeper compatibility issue with the docking station or a more specific driver/configuration issue with your setup.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
