Deskjet 3636
macOS 10.15 Catalina

My deskjet 3636 was working fine until I signed up to Instant Ink.  Now it is showing as connected with the wifi (and I can scan without any problems) but it won't print.  It just says "Looking for printer" and nothing else happens.

 

Not sure if this is related, but my HP Smart app won't open either.  It opens to the home screen and then disappears.

 

Any thoughts?

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

  • Have you tried making a standalone copy and check if the issue persists?
  • Have you checked your HP Instant Ink account page? Your Instant Ink account page will have notifications if there are any issues with the account or recent cartridge shipment, it will even provide solutions on how to fix the issue. You may log in to your HP Instant Ink account page from here.
  • Make sure the printer is connected to the Internet for Instant Ink services to work.

Check the connectivity between the printer and the MAC by a PING test

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the Wireless icon on the printer
  2. On the MAC Go to Spotlight > search for Network utility > select Ping tab > enter the IP address of the printer in the box
  3. Check the second box that says Send only > 10 pings
  4. Click on ping > Check the results at the end if any packets are lost
  5. Note: There should be 0% packet loss, share the results in your next post.
