@eab55, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
ased on what you're describing and the photo you've posted, it looks like your HP ENVY Photo 7858 is stuck on the startup screen — this often happens during or after a firmware update or power interruption.

Here’s how to try and fix it:

Power Reset

Try a basic power reset first:

  1. With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the wall directly (no surge protector).
  5. Reconnect the cord to the printer and turn it on if it doesn’t power on automatically.

If it boots past the loading screen, great! If not, continue to the next step.

Enter Semi-Full Reset Mode

This is a service-level reset that may help:

  1. Power off the printer completely (unplug if necessary).
  2. Press and hold the “Back” (arrow) button and Cancel (X) button on the control panel.
  3. While holding them, plug in the printer and power it on.
  4. Keep holding the buttons until you see the reset menu or something changes on the screen.

This may clear network settings, custom preferences, or even partially reset firmware, but it often helps recover a frozen printer.

Try USB Firmware Recovery (Advanced)

If the printer is stuck during a firmware update and nothing else works:

  • Download the firmware recovery tool from HP's support website.
  • Connect the printer to your PC via USB.
  • Launch the firmware update utility and follow the on-screen instructions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
