HP OfficeJet 5258 All-in-One Printer

My HP Officejet 5258 will not complete the start-up sequence.  The display on the printer shows the HP logo, a line and 2 dots below the line.  The display does not advance to the menu, so the HP Smart App sees the printer as being offline. Consequently, none of the HP Diagnose & Fix tools work.   I've tried resetting (unplugging the power cord from the printer and outlet waiting 60 seconds and reconnecting) the printer several times. I've checked the ink cartridges to make sure they are snug and that the paper tray is closed. It seems like it might be a software/firmware issue within the printer.  I don't know if there is another master reset on this printer that would restore factory settings to force it to complete the start-up.
