Microsoft Windows 11

When I first installed my printer a couple of months ago, it was printing where the 1st page would come out on top.  All of a sudden, it started printing in the reverse order, so every time I print, the top page is on the bottom. I have tried turning collate off and changing the orientation (front to back/back to front), but none of this worked. Please help! We homeschool, and I print a ton of pages, and I am tired of having to reorder them!  Thanks for any help.

Hi @clbrooks

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Let’s go step by step to get your printer back to printing in the correct order. Since you’re on Windows 11, here are the precise settings to check and adjust:

Step 1: Verify Print Settings in the App

  1. Open the document you want to print.
  2. Go to File > Print.
  3. In the print dialog, look for Print Options or Preferences.
  4. Check if there is a setting called Reverse Order or Print Last Page First.
    • If enabled, turn it off.

Step 2: Adjust Printer Preferences in Windows

  1. Press Windows + R, type control printers, and press Enter.
  2. Right-click your printer and select Printing Preferences.
  3. Look for an option related to Page Order or Output Order.
    • Ensure it is set to Front to Back (or similar wording).
  4. Apply the changes and test with a multi-page print.

Step 3: Check Settings in the HP App

  1. Open the HP App on your computer.
  2. Select your printer.
  3. Go to Print Settings or Advanced Settings.
  4. Confirm that Page Order is set to print first page first.

Step 4: Test with Different Applications

  • Try printing from Word, Excel, and PDF Reader.
  • If the issue only occurs in one program, adjust that program’s print settings separately.

Step 5: Reset Printer Preferences

  1. Go back to Devices and Printers in Control Panel.
  2. Right-click your printer → Printer Properties.
  3. Under the Advanced tab, click Printing Defaults.
  4. Reset to default and reconfigure the order as needed.

After these steps, your printer should return to printing with the first page on top. If it still prints in reverse, let me know which application you’re primarily printing from, and I’ll guide you through its specific settings.
