My recently installed software doesn't give me the printing oprtions I had before.

I can't print alternate pages or just in grey. The only option I have is to print what is on the screen.

Even then, it sometimes doesn't print all of the picture, it cuts off 5mm on each side.

Any ideas?

You are welcome.

Printing directly from the "thumbnail" (file) instead of opening the file in an appropriate software can work differently.  In general, when you Right-Click on the file to Print as opposed to opening the file and then printing, the options are restricted to the presets available for the (image) print software.

What?

Image Printing - Right-Click and Print

Open File Explorer (formally Windows Explorer)

Navigate to the folder in which you have saved your (image) files

Right-Click on the file > Properties > Tab General

The "Opens with" assignment displays which software is associated with that file.

If you Right-Click on that File to print it (without first opening the file in the associated software), the basic print settings are presented (displayed).  In some cases, this is "enough" to print the file.  If you do not have access to enough of the settings you need / want, it is recommended that you open the file and then print is using the full options available for the software.

Examples

Band_Tails_Properties_1Band_Tails_Properties_1

Band_Tails_Righ-Click_Print_1.Band_Tails_Righ-Click_Print_1.

PDF Printing

The same basics apply to Right-Click-and-Print for PDF files.

PDF files are likely (or can be) associated with Adobe Reader DC or a similar PDF reader software.

In general, it is recommended that you Open a PDF file and then print to assure you have full control over the print functions.

Reminders / References

  • Most printer software wants (requires at this writing) that Adobe Reader DC software be installed.
  • Optional  Foxit Reader works similarly to Adobe and provides a clean, intuitive interface.  Foxit software is not mandatory (at this writing).
  • Default applications (Windows 10):  Settings > Apps > Default Apps > Choose defaults apps by file type

There appear to be a couple of unrelated questions in your request - I will answer that which I think is relevant.

First, the Full Feature Software for your printer is available for Windows 10:

HP Deskjet F2100/F4100 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver

NOTE:   The software is five years old and may no longer be fully supported in the latest Windows 10 versions.

Following are some examples / methods of printing more than one sheet (or image) on a sheet of paper.

Not every method is shown, of course.

PDF Printing

Two pages on a sheet, for example, as used in printing a PDF file, can be managed using your PDF Reader / print software.

Reinstall / Update your PDF Reader (Adobe Reader DC /Optional  Foxit Reader)

  • HINT: Watch out for and UNCHECK unwanted extra software
  • Adobe Reader DC software should be installed even if you do not open / view / print PDF files directly from the software.

Adobe Acrobat Reader Learn & Support

Example:

Word Printing

Two sheets per page can be selected in Word > File > Print > under Settings

Example
Word_B5_Print_2-sheets_1Word_B5_Print_2-sheets_1

Photo Printing

HP Photo Creations can print multiple photos on a sheet of paper.

Download, Save, and install:

HP Photo Creations

HP Photo Creations works alongside your installed Full Feature Software to help you print your photos, images, and other projects.

Windows 8.x and Windows 10 - After the software is installed:

Click Start (windows key) > all apps > scroll the list

Open Category HP

Find the HP Photo Creations application

Right-Click on the application and PIN to Start

HP Photo Creations Support & Tips

Example

Want more than one picture on a sheet of paper?

Open the Photo Creations software

Prints

Under Quick Prints

Select a box Multi-Up > Print my own Add Photos Browse >

Open first one and then another photo to be printed on the paper >

Print >

Select / Verify the name of the Printer in the drop-down menu

Under the printer's name >

Open Printer Settings... >

Printing Shortcuts >

Adjust / Verify settings in each tab  (Details dependent on printer model)

For example,

tab Paper / Quality > Media Type HP Advanced Photo Paper (or other)

Advanced > Size of Paper > Letter (8.5 x 11”)

Click OK to save changes and exit the Printer Settings menu

Open Advanced Settings

Set / Verify settings in each sub-section

When ready, click Print

NOTES:

The software adjusts the orientation for each photo.

Be aware that Printer mandatory margin restrictions could interfere -- some printers require larger margins and not all printers support "Borderless".  If you find you are having issues with margins, check your printer Specifications.

In the example, the second "added photo" (in its original format) was a different "shape" (Aspect Ratio).  Photo Creations has cut the photo to fit within the requested size.  Depending on the intelligence of the photo editing software, this may or may not always work in your best interests.  This time, it works just fine, cutting off just some extra "foliage" in the photo and leaving the main feature (Chickadee).

Additional settings that may be helpful when printing multi-up prints:

  • Grid Spacing = None pushes the photos together so you can cut them out with a single cut.
  • Disabling cut marks removes the light gray lines that help show the edges of photos with white areas near the border.

Both of these settings are enabled in the example.

General Example - More than one print on paper

Photo_Creations_Multi-Up_1Photo_Creations_Multi-Up_1

Cutting / Chopping of Images

The solution much depends on what kind of data you are printing, which software you are using to print the content, how you have created the document / image file that is to be printed.  In other words, the answer depends on context.

Thank you Dragon-Fur for your solution, it did help.  I wanted to print two pages on one sheet and all I was offered was this:Print options.JPGI downloaded Adobe reader, as your suggestion and I now  if I Right click on a thumbnail from my picture file this brings a drop-down list where I can click on 'Print'.

From print picture screen choose Full page or different size of photo from the sliding bar.

Go into Options..... (bottom right)  this brings up 'Print settings'> Printer properties> Document properties for Advanced/Printing Shortcuts/Features/Colour/Services
