HP Officejet Pro 8600
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Attempting to install the software N911a-n on a desktop PC running Windows 10 but it can't find that printer.  The printer, HP Officejet Pro 8600, is on Wi-Fi and other devices can find and print on it.  The desktop running Windows 10 finds it and you can print to it.  The software also finds the printer but when you select it, it says it can't be found.  HP Print and Scan Doctor finds the same printer twice, once with the IP address and once by the printer's name.  If you select the IP address, it can't be found but if you select the printer's name, it finds it but none of the options work.  And you can't use the printer's name with the N911a-b.  I also used HP Print and Scan Doctor to turn off the firewall but that didn't help.  I've spent hours trying to install the software to utilize the features of that printer and had no success.  At least Windows 10 allows me to print to it.

I understand that you are unable to find the printer.

 

Please perform the Clean reinstallation of Pre-installed HP drivers

1.       In Windows, search for and open Programs and features   

2.       Select your HP Printer   

3.       Select Uninstall   

4.       In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers   

5.       In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’   

6.       Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.   

7.       Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)   

8.       Click on the “Drivers” tab   

9.       Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom   

10.   Select Ok   

11.   Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows   

12.   Close Devices and Printers, restart the computer.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.
