Hi @BARNABAS4

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for highlighting the issue while installing the HP Smart Tank 529 software. If you're seeing a message that .NET Framework 4.7.2 is not supported, it usually means the operating system version is not compatible with that .NET version.

Let's walk through a smooth, step-by-step resolution to get your printer software installed successfully.

1. Check Windows Version Compatibility

.NET Framework 4.7.2 requires a minimum version of Windows:

  • Windows 7 SP1
  • Windows 8.1
  • Windows 10 Version 1607 or later
  • Windows 11 (all versions)

To check your Windows version:

  • Press Windows + R, type winver, and press Enter
  • If your version is older than Windows 10 Version 1607, the installation will not proceed

If your version is outdated:

  • Update Windows to the latest version using Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates

2. Enable .NET Framework Features

Even if your system supports .NET 4.7.2, the feature might be disabled:

  • Press Windows + R, type optionalfeatures, and press Enter
  • In the Windows Features dialog, ensure the following are checked:
    • .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)
    • .NET Framework 4.8 Advanced Services
  • Click OK and allow Windows to apply the changes

3. Install .NET Framework 4.7.2 Manually

If your OS version supports it but the installer still fails:

  • Uninstall any partially installed HP software from Control Panel > Programs and Features
  • Restart your PC
  • Download the standalone .NET Framework 4.7.2 installer from the official Microsoft site
  • Right-click the installer and choose Run as administrator
  • Follow the prompts to complete installation

4. Proceed with HP Software Installation

Once .NET Framework 4.7.2 is successfully installed:

  • Reinstall the HP software for Smart Tank 529
  • Use the HP App (formerly HP Smart) for setup and printing

5. If Installation Still Fails

  • Ensure no antivirus or firewall is blocking the installation
  • Temporarily disable third-party security software during installation
  • Restart your PC and try again

We truly appreciate the steps you've already taken to resolve this. You're doing a fantastic job navigating this, and with just a few more steps, your Smart Tank 529 should be up and running beautifully.
