Hello, This printer has been working fine with my MacBook Air, but not with my M1 with Monterey.
I've tried a few things posted in other queries.
Here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/monterrey-and-hp-printers.2319676/
and here: http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/p_FAQ_OS_X.php#onlyForGimp
None of which cause the printer to appear when I click '+' to add a printer.
Not clear what Gutenprint is doing...
Anyway, is there a proper HP package yet? Has anyone else had success with this printer on Monterey?
Thank you,
Richie

Never mind, the USB connection was part of the issue, does not work through my USB hub, and did I plug the USB cable into the ethernet jack?
I found this hack, which has been helpful: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/monterrey-and-hp-printers.2319676/

Hi @MrRich617,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I'd like to help!
HP LaserJet P2055dn Printer driver for macOS is not available from the HP website or Apple Software Update. However, Gutenprint (formerly called Gimp-Print) provides open-source basic print drivers for many printers that would otherwise not be supported in Mac OS X. To see if your printer is supported, go to Gutenprint drivers for more information.
NOTE: Gutenprint drivers are not supported by HP or Apple.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi Jay,
Thanks, but Gutenprint doesn't seem to help either. Neither does editing the Apple HP printer driver package to bypass the OS restriction in the distribution package.
A USB cable works fine on another Mac with Monterey - which was an upgraded OS and not a fresh install. I presume because the drivers were carried over from the earlier OS installation.
I believe I can use a generic driver if I attach the printer to the network, but I am trying to use the USB.
