Need HP desk jet 960c driver 64 bit

Hello all!

I recently inherited a 960c deskjet that is 19 years old! As a testament to the product, it still works. However, I need a special driver for either Windows 7 AND/OR Mac El Capitaine. Could someone help me? Since they retired the driver, I haven't been able to find it.  I'm on another continent, and printers here are hard to come by.

Hi Betty!

Thanks for your message. The Windows built in driver actually didn’t work for me—I had tried it prior to the post. Neither does an active directory search for the printer. My PC is definitely older (2010) so that may be part of it. The Mac is the newer computer.

Try using the driver for Deskjet 990c this time.

Hi Betty,

Unfortuantely, it’s telling me that the driver for the 990 series is only available on windows update. I’ve updated the system a few times (actually the universal driver is probably on it) but am not sure how to identify and install this one driver. Could you assist?

Are you able to locate the 990c in the drop-down menu after you select HP as the manufacturer?

Gutenprint (formerly called Gimp-Print) provides open-source basic print drivers for many printers that would otherwise not be supported in Mac OS X. To see if your printer is supported, go to Gutenprint drivers for more information.

NOTE: 

Gutenprint drivers are not supported by HP or Apple.
