HP Photosmart A717 Compact Photo Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently moved and lost the Installation CD for my HP Photosmart A717 printer. I did not think much of it initially since I assumed Windows could automatically download the drivers upon setup or I could find them on the HP Support Website.

 

Unfortunately, when I plug the device into my computer, it shows "Driver is Unavailable" under "Printers & Scanners."

When I visit the HP Support website for Software & Drivers, it gives instructions to "Install the HP Printer Driver & Software provided within your Operating System."

 

Please help! Much appreciated.

Hi @Bearspot ,

 

You may need to install driver with the Windows Update button from Add Printer option.

Hi FerRX,

 

Appreciate your suggestion. I was able to following along closely until I clicked the "Windows Update" button in Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Devices and Printers > Add a Printer.

 

Following the Windows Update refreshing of the list, I searched the available Printers under both "Hewlett-Packard" and "HP" and found several models of Photosmart Printers, but not the A717/A710 Series or anything resembling closely. 

 

In the video you attached, it was stated that the 330 Model can be substituted for the 230 Model. Is there a proxy for the Photosmart A717 that I should be looking for?

 

Please help. Thanks!

Try to install with the very same driver "Photosmart 330"
