HP OfficeJet Pro 8025
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I installed my new OfficeJet 8025 on my Desktop via ethernet cable to router and then wireless to Officejet, works great. Then I tried to install the OfficeJet 8025 on my Laptop (17T) via wireless to router and then wireless to OfficeJet. Setup finished but stated a driver was unavailable, A comparison between the desktop and laptop shows the PCL-3 printer and Printer Queues are missing on my laptop and therefore I can see the device but can't print to the device. Both installations use the same "Full Solution" downloads. I have tried all the "solutions" but nothing has helped.

@morhouston, Welcome to HP Support Community!

You may need to instead go into your router settings and try changing the channel manually. Experiment with different channels to see which one works best.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor and run the program. It will automatically diagnose and fix any printer connectivity issues.

For more information, go to https://support.hp.com/us-en/topic/printscandoctor

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Assign manual IP to the printer

The steps on how to set a manual IP address can be found here.

For the DNS servers please use 8.8.8.8 for the Manual Preferred DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 for the Alternate DNS server. These are Google’s public DNS servers

If the issue persists, I recommend you delete the driver and root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2) Select your HP Printer

3) Select Uninstall

4) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’

6) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.

7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe”

8). Click on the “Drivers” tab

9) Look for the HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10) Select Ok

11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12) Close Devices and Printers.

Use this link to download and install the new driver. Configure the printer.

Add a TCP/IP port.

  1. Print a Network Configuration Report from the Printer Settings or Wireless menu.
  2. Right-click your printer, select Printer Properties, click the Ports tab, and then click Add Port.
  3. Select Standard TCP/IP Port, and then click New Port.
  4. Follow the instructions to add a new port using the information listed on the Network Configuration Report.
  5. Try printing.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you for your reply. Before I try these recommendations could you read my 2nd post that updates my status. It is

"PCL-3 driver not digitally signed". This may be the real problem. I also submitted the 2nd request over facebook Friday so there may be some duplication of effort to avoid.

Thanks again!

Update to Missing PCL-3 driver.

Good News – The PCL-3 print driver had been downloaded as part of the “Full Solution” and is on my HP Pavilion 17t Notebook. I found it while using the Device Manager and looking in Printer Queues. What I wanted wasn't there...

BUT I saw a folder named Other Devices and upon opening it I saw an “Unknown Device”. Right clicked it and selected Properties and it showed a description of “HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 Series PCL-3”. I went back to the Unknown Device and right clicked to select Update Driver. A search was done and it found the PCL-3 and asked if I wanted to install it. Oh Yeah!!!

BUT then I got the “Unable to Install Driver” message along with this addition information:

“Either not digitally signed or not signed in the appropriate manner. Contact your hardware vendor.”

Note: Using Window 10 Home 64 bit Operation System, (1903 latest version).

Update on 2020-05-23

The clean-up, restart, and reinstalled suggestions were unsuccessful. Again it failed and left the unknown device I described above. I can see the 8025 printer from my laptop, open it to view various printer status reports, and trigger them to print out just fine. But I still have an uninstalled status. Even trying the simple USB connection attempt fails with the Driver Not Digitally Signed or Not Signed in the Appropriate Manner. As I mentioned above the PCL-3 driver is found when I try to update the Unknown Device but fails with the "Not Signed" message. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Uninstall the drivers and add the printer using the TCP/IP -

1.  Select “Start” and type “printers” in the search box.

2.  Choose “Printers & scanners“.

3.   elect “Add a printer or scanner“.

4.  Wait for the “The printer that I want isn’t listed” option to appear, then select it.

5.   Select “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname” , then select “Next“.

6.   select “TCP/IP Device” in the “Device type” list.

7.  Type the hostname or the IP address of the printer. Select “Next“. To find the IP address of the printer, touch the Wi-Fi icon on the printer's control panel.

8.  Windows should find the printer if the printer is on and configured correctly. You may have to specify more information. If prompted, Select the type of network adapter installed in the printer in the “Device Type” drop-down list. You can also click “Custom” to specify custom settings for the network printer. Select “Next

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

PCL-3 Driver not digitally signed or not signed in the appropriate manner.

Update 2020-05-25:

Unsuccessful, Removed Drivers, Restarted, Reinstalled Full Solution, Used TCP/IP address to find the 8020 printer to add.

Installing Network Device Process Failed, message “Unsuccessful Network Installation”.

Settings for “Printers and Scanners” showed:

The Fax Function for the 8020, which I will not be using.

The 8020 series Network Printer but with the information “Driver is Unavailable”.

Device Manager “Printer Queues” did not show the 8020 series printer.

Device Manager “Other Devices” again showed an Unknown Device.

Attempt to update driver for “Unknown Device” allowed a search for all print drivers on my computer.

The search found two entries for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 series PCL-3.

Both entries had an icon with an orange/yellow dot next to them with the description of the icon as “the driver is not digitally signed”.

This is always the Show Stopper...
