Hi @JantheDane,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To resolve the issue with the outdated SSL certificate for your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M225dw printer, follow these steps:

Step 1: Update the Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

The SSL certificate issue may be resolved by updating the printer's firmware. Firmware updates often include updated security certificates. Here’s how you can update the firmware:

Download the Latest Firmware:

  • Go to the HP Support website.
  • Search for your printer model (HP LaserJet Pro MFP M225dw).
  • Navigate to the "Drivers & Downloads" section.
  • Download the latest firmware update for your printer.

Install the Firmware:

  • Follow the instructions provided on the HP website to install the firmware update on your printer.

Step 2: Reset the Printer to Factory Settings

If updating the firmware does not resolve the issue, you can try resetting the printer to factory settings. This can sometimes clear outdated settings and certificates.

  1. Reset the Printer:
    • Go to the printer’s control panel.
    • Navigate to the "Setup" menu.
    • Select "Service" and then "Restore Defaults".

Step 3: Install a New SSL Certificate Manually

If the problem persists, you might need to manually install a new SSL certificate:

Generate a New Certificate:

  • Access the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS) by entering the printer's IP address in a web browser.
  • Go to the "Networking" tab, then "Security" settings.
  • Look for an option to generate a new SSL certificate.

Install the Certificate:

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to create and install the new certificate.

Step 4: Reconnect the Printer to the Network

After updating the firmware or installing a new SSL certificate, reconnect the printer to your network:

  1. Reconnect to the Network:
    • Go to the printer’s control panel.
    • Navigate to the "Network" menu.
    • Follow the instructions to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Step 5: Update Printer Settings on MacOS

Finally, update the printer settings on your Mac:

  1. Remove and Re-add the Printer:
    • Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners".
    • Select your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M225dw printer and click the "-" button to remove it.
    • Click the "+" button to add the printer again, ensuring it is set up with the updated settings.
