I have an HP Officejet pro 6978. I can't seem to get the icon to work properly on one of you two computers, and I can't get the scan feature to work on the same computer. I think I need a new startup disk for it. Send availability info to my e-mail [personal information removed]

Printer - Full Feature Software / Full Solution / Full driver printer software
HP Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software - supports printing and scanning from the web, printing in in other software and programs (for example, Word), and provides access to the full range of Printing Preferences / Shortcuts. The full driver generally adds at one, possibly least one, possibly two shortcuts to the Desktop: Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and/or HP Scan.
NOTES:
HP Scan is not installed if the printer does not support Scan.
The Printer Assistant is not installed if the type of full driver software does not support it. If the printer model includes built-in Fax hardware, the software supports the setup and use of the Fax driver. No Sign-in required.

Since I sent my request for a 6978 startup disk, I found 2 other icons that I can use to do the things I was trying to do with the corrupted Icon. So I am happy at least temporarily. However, I still would like a startup disk so I can not be dependant on the vagarities, and potential obsolescence of the on-line HP downloads.

I think HP stopped making or providing Startup CD's maybe 10 or15 years ago.
It's been a while, at least.
Download the Software installation package , save it to your computer, and copy it to a USB stick.
Should you not wish to be dependent on other online documents, for example, the user manual, download wanted file(s) and save on your computer or copy to another location.
