I am trying to come up with a solution to excess color print usage on the HP M479dfw. I know I can change the print driver to print in black by default only, but that still gives the user the ability to change to color if desired. I also know i can change the settings on the printer itself to never print in color. Problem is, I have certain devices that DO need to print in color to that same printer, so I'm looking for a way to have 2 different drivers. OR - find a way to "lock down" the driver so a user cannot select the color printing option.
Any ideas?
thx

Hello,
Hope you are well, once the printer is installed into the computer that will not go with color printing, go to the control panel > devices and printers > right click on the printer and select printer preferences, then go to the color tab and select Grayscale. Apply the changes and then go to the printer properties and o to Device Settings tab and select Device Type Monochrome and Apply changes.
Regards,
