HP Color Laser MFP 178nw
Linux

I'm trying to set up my printer under CUPS. Can anyone help me?

The printer is connected to my PC via LAN.

The printer is an MFP 178nw.

I am on Fedora 36.

I have got this working before, but I cannot find the correct connection string or the driver. I have the correct IP address. I need this for the add printer dialog in CUPS.

Also, hp-makeuri in debug mode is giving me

hp-makeuri[8513]: debug: Searching for section [hp_color_laser_mfp_178_179] in file /usr/share/hplip/data/models/models.dat
error: Device not found

edit: there is an entry for [hp_colorlaserjet_mfp_m178-m181], could I make that work?

I have been trying various options. gnome settings will add the printer but only as ascii-only, which does not solve my requirements.

edit2: it seems from the network configuration report that the connection string should be ipp://192.168.0.158/ipp/print.

One plausible value for the driver is HP ColorLaserJet MFP M178-M181 Postscript (recommended) (color) but this does not seem to work (did not print test page)
