Where can I find the driver to download for HP Color Laser Jet Pro M252dw (A9B882)  that will work for my MacOS 14.0 Sonoma.  My printer stopped working when I tried to print from my MacBook Air.  I need to reinstall the driver. Thanks.

Hi @Veritasca,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I’m here to guide you with the correct HP steps to download and reinstall the driver for your HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw (A9B82A) on macOS 14 Sonoma. And yes, the official HP driver IS available for Mac, directly from HP’s support portal. Below is the reliable, HP‑approved method to get your printer working again.

1. Download the Official HP Driver for macOS (from HP.com)

Your correct driver download page is here:

👉 HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support

On that page:

  1. Scroll to “Choose a different OS”
  2. Select: macOS → macOS 14 Sonoma
  3. Download the driver or HP Easy Start package shown.

HP Easy Start will automatically detect, install, and configure the correct macOS‑compatible driver.

2. Install the Driver (HP Easy Start recommended)

Once downloaded:

  1. Open the HP Easy Start file
  2. Approve any macOS security prompts
  3. Allow HP software to install system components if prompted
  4. When HP Easy Start opens, select your M252dw
  5. Choose Install Full Software and Drivers

This ensures all LaserJet features work properly.

3. Delete Old Printer Entry & Re‑Add It (Important for Sonoma)

macOS Sonoma requires a clean re‑addition after reinstalling HP drivers.

Remove old printer:

  1. Apple menu  → System Settings
  2. Printers & Scanners
  3. Select your HP Color LaserJet M252dw, Click – Remove Printer

Add the printer back:

  1. Click + Add Printer
  2. Select your M252dw (Wi‑Fi or USB)
  3. Under Use: it should automatically show: HP Color LaserJet M252dw
    (not AirPrint)

If it shows AirPrint instead, → click the dropdown and choose the HP driver installed.

4. Allow the Driver in macOS Security (If Prompted)

macOS 14 may block newly installed HP software. If you see a message saying the HP installer was blocked:

  1. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security
  2. Scroll to the bottom
  3. Approve “HP, Inc.” under Allow Anyway
  4. Re-open the installer if needed

HP confirms this in Sonoma‑related driver installation guidance.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
