I have two computers with windows 10, where I both use the OfficeJet 5600 Series.
One one, the printer works, on the other not. Neither Windows Update, EasySetup, HP Smart or HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.7.4 are able to solve the problem on the Dell Latitued E6540. The Printer is detected, but any installation stops saying there is an error with the Printer Driver. I suspect Windows has some wronger drivers, or the drivers has some conflicts, so that it does not install properly.
In the Post Need driver fro Printer Office jet 5600 - HP Support Community - 9036142 this problem was also adressed and solved in May, this year, but the downloads and solutions are no longer available, this does not help me now.
I believe I need the separate Driver installation of a Full Package, in the hope that this will work. Why has this been removed, I am pretty sure I used it some years ago as a download?
Any help appreciated!

Hi @eilifmk,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like a frustrating situation! To resolve the printer driver issue for your HP OfficeJet 5600 series printer on your Dell Latitude E6540, you can try the following steps.
Uninstall Existing Drivers
First, you should remove any existing printer drivers that may be causing conflicts:
Open Control Panel:
- Search for "Control Panel" in the Windows search bar and open it.
Devices and Printers:
- Click on "Devices and Printers."
Remove Printer:
- Right-click on the OfficeJet 5600 printer and select "Remove Device."
Uninstall Drivers:
- Go to "Programs and Features" in the Control Panel, look for any HP printer software, and uninstall it.
Download the Full Driver Package
You can download the full driver package directly from HP's website:
Visit the HP Drivers & Software Page:
- Go to the HP Support website.
Enter Printer Model:
- Type "OfficeJet 5600" in the search bar and select your printer model from the list.
Select Windows 10:
- Choose Windows 10 as your operating system.
Download Full Driver Package:
- Look for the "Full Driver & Software Package" option and download it.
Install the Driver
Once the download is complete, follow these steps to install the driver:
Run the Installer:
- Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver.

Reconnect the Printer:
- Make sure the printer is connected to your computer via USB or network and turned on during installation.
Test the Printer:
- After installation, try printing a test page to ensure everything is working correctly.
Use HP Print and Scan Doctor
If you're still having issues after this, use HP Print and Scan Doctor again:
Download and Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- You can download it from the HP Print and Scan Doctor page.
Follow the Prompts:
- The tool will help diagnose and fix common printing issues, including driver-related problems.
Note:
- Make sure Windows 10 is fully updated, as updates can sometimes resolve driver compatibility issues.
- Disable any third-party antivirus software temporarily, as it might interfere with the installation process.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
