Hi @moodycroatian,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Installing or reinstalling a printer like the HP LaserJet 1102w should typically be straightforward, but occasionally issues can arise. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get your HP LaserJet 1102w installed and running properly:

1. Preparation

Uninstall Old Printer Software: If you've replaced the printer with the same model, ensure any previous printer software or drivers are uninstalled from your computer.

  • On Windows: Go to Settings > Apps, find any HP printer software, and uninstall them.
  • On macOS: Open Finder, go to Applications > HP or Hewlett-Packard, and drag any printer-related applications to the Trash.

Disconnect Old Printer: Unplug the old HP LaserJet 1102w from power and disconnect any cables (USB or Ethernet) from your computer.

2. Install Printer Hardware

Set Up Printer:

  • Remove all packaging materials from the new HP LaserJet 1102w printer.
  • Plug in the power cord and turn on the printer.
  • Set up any preferences on the printer’s control panel (e.g., language, region).

Connect Printer to Network (Wireless):

  • Press the Wireless button on the printer to start the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) method or use the printer’s control panel to connect to your wireless network.
  • Follow the prompts on the printer’s display to enter your network password (WEP/WPA key).

3. Download and Install Printer Software

Download Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support website: HP LaserJet 1102w Drivers.
  • Enter your printer model (LaserJet 1102w) and select your operating system (Windows or macOS).
  • Download the latest full feature software/driver package.

Install Drivers:

  • Once downloaded, run the installer file.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to install the HP printer software.
  • Choose the wireless connection option when prompted during the installation process.
  • Complete the setup by following any additional prompts to set preferences or register the printer if desired.

4. Test Printing

  1. Print a Test Page:
    • After installation, print a test page to ensure that the HP LaserJet 1102w is correctly installed and connected.
    • On Windows: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, select your HP LaserJet 1102w, and click on "Print a test page".
    • On macOS: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, select your HP LaserJet 1102w, and click on "Print Test Page".

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
